Halloween Fun

Savanna had her preschool Halloween parade yesterday and it was a HUGE success. She loved it and loved wearing her costume. And might I ad, she looked freakin' cute! My little Diva Devil! The parents were invited to so a trunk or treat for the kids... which I was so out trunk or treated! I will do better next year. As the kids went from car to car, that was also their parade. There were some super cute Halloween costumes... cute cute kids! I got Makade all decked out too, but he slept the entire time. I guess that was good considering it was FREEZING outside! Anywho, enjoy these sweet pictures. More to come from actual Halloween!

Go Red!

Savanna had red day the other day at school, so you gotta know I would get her all decked out in the proper red attire. I'm a Ute fan through and through... Josh on the other hand has to be anything but a Utah fan just to go against me... suck a stinker. I can't help that I graduated from the best school ever! But my baby girl sure looks good in red... brings out her beautiful red hair!

Summer trip to Tennessee 2009

Okay, I know I am so behind on my blogging. It has been a very busy month so I have a lot to catch up on... so here we go!
For our summer vacation this year, we decided to head to Tennessee to visit my sister and her family. Savanna adores her kids and misses them terribly, so we were all really excited to go there and play with them. While we were there, we thought it would be fun to head to a little town called Gatlinburg. They live right outside of Nashville, and Gatlinburg is only a 3 hour drive from there, so we packed up the cars and headed out! They all did really well.. even Makade who is now 7 months and her little boy Breven who is 11 months. In Gatlinburg, we went to the amusement park Dollywood....SOOOO MUCH FUN! Savanna loved the rides!
So Gatlinburg is considered to be in the Tennessee "mountains". Of course, I laughed, seeing as we live around REAL mountains, but it was still pretty and mountainesque! We rented a super nice cabin that was huge. Had 3 bedrooms, kitchen, 2 living rooms, pool table, hot tub, sauna, and a theater room. We were there for 5 days and loved every minute of it!
The main strip of Gatlinburg reminds me a lot of main street in Park City. Just fun and quaint! We had a fun time just walking around and looking at all the fun shops!
We also went on a "bear hunt". Although because of the kids, we did it in the car! We ended up just driving through the national park there and just getting out to take pictures. The boys were disappointed we didn't see any bears, but I wasn't!
We also had the kids pictures taken. My mom is really big on pictures so she begged us to get some done while all the kids were together. The photographer was darling with the kids and got some great ones. We don't have them back yet, but these are ones that I just snapped behind her with my camera! So stinkin' cute!

All in all, we just had a great time. We miss the Ewing terribly and can' t wait for the day when they move back home to UTAH!

Play date

Savanna has the 2 cutest girls that live in our circle. And best part is, they are her age. Liv is just 1 year older than her and Katie is just 6 month older. They love being together. Whether it's riding bikes around the circle, running around and screaming, or just playing! The 3 moms have decided to try and do a play date every month and have the girls over to the different houses to do activities. Last month was my month and I had the girls make these cute necklaces. Oh they loved it and had a blast making them. that of course was followed by the girls just running around and playing. They were even hugging each other and saying "you are my best friend!" Oh, so so so cute!!!
Of course, Kade wanted to be a part of the fun too! Luckily Liv has a little brother Kades age... thank heavens he has a "boy" to play with!

Ode to a NEW roof

When we bought this home, we were told that it needed a new roof here in the next few years. Well that came quicker than we hoped. Last year when Josh was putting up Christmas lights, he saw how bad it really was. And we still had the stupid swamp cooler up there. So, before winter hit this year, we were determined to get it done. After getting a few bids that all totaled around $4,000-$5,000 we figured we could do it ourselves... and when I say WE I really means JOSH! It would have been impossible for me to get up there with our kids sitting on the gourd watching us. So I got the kids... and he got the roof! We ordered shingles, had them delivered, got the nails and nail gun and Josh got up there and got going. THANK YOU THANK YOU to my brother in law Mark, my mother in law Kaye, and sister in law Monica for helping. Josh could not have done it without you guys. And YES I said my 67 year old mother in law! She was up there hammering away. Than woman is going to out live us all! Our roof looks beautiful and I am so glad to have that darn swamp cooler down!

Neighborhood Safety

We love that we live in such a great neighborhood. Recently, we have been working on making sure our neighborhood is nice and safe and gearing up in case an emergency happens.... for example an earthquake or something along those lines. Our block had a meeting in our circle and we invited some fun people to come and join us. The entire sheriffs department showed up, along with swat cars, motorcycles, the command station truck and our city Mayor. The kids were dying with excitement... especially when they made a grand entrance with all the lights blinking and horns blowing! We were able to go through all the vehicles, pet the dog, talk to all the officers and just have fun as a block. Savanna was loving it! We had a great time!
